As one of the top removals, storage, and packing providers in the London and Hertfordshire area, our customers regularly hit us with questions regarding the house move process, which we are more than happy to answer.
Since we know many of our future clients are likely to have similar queries, we’ve put together this handy list of the more frequently asked questions, to save you time before calling us for a quote.
These are the most common questions concerning our domestic removals services.
A Trux Removals, we always say the earlier the better when it comes to getting your moving day booked in. While the odd cancellation can crop up (if you’re lucky) allowing for a last-minute booking, we would usually advise you to get in touch somewhere between six and eight weeks in advance.
It’s really up to you. All we ask if you’re going to need our assistance breaking down furniture at one end, or putting it back together at the other, is that you let us know that you will need this service when you first call. All our house moves are performed on a tight schedule and, by asking in advance, we get to incorporate into that day’s timetable.
This is something you will need to take up with your local council as different streets across London and Hertfordshire operate on different regulations for commercial parking. Remember, although we’ll be providing the van, organising such permits as are required remains your responsibility.
Obviously, a lot of the time will be taken up transporting your possessions from one house to another. Beyond that, assuming all packing has been completed in advance, and that there are no unexpected delays, we would expect to spend between 60 minutes and 90 minutes loading the van and preparing to leave. Unloading will usually take a similar amount of time as we endeavour to leave your boxes exactly where you want them in the house.
When you hire Trux Removals to handle your home move for you, you can rest assured that your personal belongings will be fully covered by our insurance policy for the duration of the time that they are under our care. This means that, from the moment we load your stuff onto the removals van, to the moment we place it down at your new home, you are protected against things like theft, fire, and accidental damage.
These are the most common questions concerning our commercial removals services.
It all starts with a phone call from you to our team here at Trux Removals. One of our helpful and friendly members of staff will act as your liaison point and will go through the various options available to you, along with how best to implement them. We always look towards a solution that minimizes the impact of an office move on your business and your employees.
As with domestic moves, the more notice you are able to give us increases the likelihood that we will be available to help you on your chosen removal day. While we can sometimes fit you in at shorter notice, arranging your movement plan 10 to 12 weeks in advance is a sure-fire way to secure the date you want.
Moving the equipment itself is not a problem, so long as you tell where you want it deposited in your new work premises. However, as efficient as our removal team might be, they are not hardware engineers, and so are not qualified to install phone or computer systems for you.
Our team of moving experts are available to work outside of regular office hours, meaning that an office move can be conducted once all your staff have gone home for the day. We can even arrange a weekend move, it that’s more practical. All of this can be discussed with you before we agree the contract.
These are the most common questions concerning our storage services.
Not at all: here at Trux Removals, we have a flexible approach to storage. As far as we are concerned, whether you need storage space for a week or so, or whether you’re looking for a more long-term solution, we have a package that will meet your specific requirements.
Sometimes things don’t go quite as we might have planned and that applies as much to storage contracts as to anything else. Luckily, at Trux Removals, we are happy to amend any ongoing storage solution, whether you need our services for a little more or a little less than you originally thought.
As a firm of professional house removal experts, we have the vehicles and the staff on hand to bring all your belongings to our storage facility on your behalf.
We are proud of the security measures we have in place at our storage warehouse. Thanks to an advanced CCTV surveillance system, all our storage units are constantly monitored on a 24-hour basis, meaning your belongings remain safe and secure throughout their time here.
Of course. All items held in our storage facility benefit from our insurance policy, copies of which are available upon request. While we expect your belongings to be safe during their time with us, our policy covers things like fire, theft, and accidental damage, just in case the unthinkable should occur.
Yes. Any of our customers can access their self-storage unit when they need to. You will have your own key for your storage unit and will be met by a member of our team when you arrive, to ensure full security at all times.
Not at all. We have many commercial clients who use our storage facilities for a number of business purposes. Some use them for archiving documents, some for storing stock, and still others for storing office furniture and hardware during a business move. We offer great rates for business customers, who often need our services on a more long-term basis.
These are the most common questions concerning our packing services.
It’s entirely up to you. So long as everything is packed and ready to go by the time our removals team turns up at your door it makes no difference to us who does the actual packing. Many of our customers have told us that the packing process itself is the thing they dread most about moving house, so they would far rather delegate it to a third party like us.
This is a common midway solution taken by many of our customers. They take care of the books, clothes, toys, and all the other stuff that can be easily thrown into boxes with little chance of damage, while we help to carefully wrap, pack, and box up the more delicate or valuable items.
While most of our packing jobs are linked directly to our removals services, we are just as happy to help clients who are packing things up ready to be put into our storage facility.
Our insurance policy does not cover any breakages or damage incurred during the packing process, though our workers will, of course, take every precaution to limit the possibility of loss. Any damages would have to be recovered through your own contents insurance, if applicable.
You need to have done any sorting and separating of your belongings before we arrive, as well as for deciding anything that is to be thrown out or otherwise discarded. Our packing service is swift and efficient and involves getting your belongings into boxes with a minimum of fuss.
We can provide you with all the packing materials that you need, including cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, and packing tape. These are of the highest quality because they are the same ones that we use ourselves.
Hopefully, these will answer the majority of your questions regarding the house move process. If there’s anything we’ve missed, feel free to call Trux Removals today on 01707 870 488, where a member of our team will be happy to assist you with any other queries you might have.
